Who are you and what is your role at the brewery?
I'm Jake Turner and I'm the brewer/cellarman/packager at Maize Valley
What is the name of your brewery and how did it come about?
Maize Valley Brewery is the name of our brewery and that came from the previously established and still operating winery and farm market aspects of the business.
What is your favorite beer that's been released at your brewery?
My favorite beer that I've brewed at the brewery was our Galaxy Smasher Triple IPA, it's only been on tap a few select times because it was really difficult for us to source the hops to make it.
What is your favorite thing in your brewery?
I really love our back pavilion, it the summer time with live music and a tasty beer and great scenery out back, nothing beats it.
What is your most recent milestone?
Well, back in February we completed our expansion from a small half barrel brew system to our nicely sized 15 barrel brewery.
What is your next major goal for the brewery?
Our next major goal is to get a more versatile packaging line later this year or early next year so that we can get some more beer out into the stores and bars. Right now we mostly keg with some limited bottling.
Bear vs. Shark who would win and why?
Boy, this really depends if we're talking about a battle on land or sea but I'm going to have to go with bear because of it's massive biting and slashing potential.
Drink of choice? (this doesn't have to be one of your beers but it can be)
I still have a love affair with beer, and if I'm honest I probably drink an equal amount of Pilsner Urquell and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as my go-to beer options. However, in the summer time I've been known to enjoy mojito's as well.
