Meet the Brewery: Kindred Artisan Ales

If you haven't been to Kindred Microbrewery and Bar in Gahanna, Ohio, it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the Columbus area. They serve their own delicious beers plus a handful of other local brews on tap. Bonus: the patio is the perfect place to enjoy some delicious brews and some of the finest food truck cuisine around on a beautiful day! My current favorite is the Farmhouse Pale Ale With Coffee! Make sure to get your ticket to the Akron Ale Fest in order to get to check out breweries like his first hand!

Who are you and what is your role at the brewery?

Jay Taylor, Sales Manager.

What is the name of your brewery and how did it come about?

Kindred Artisan Ales.  We just wanted a name that was inclusive… we are all in this together, and all craft beer fans are bonded by their love of beer.

What is your favorite beer that's been released at your brewery?

Our flagship beer Kindred Wit is a really traditional Belgian-style White Ale.  A refreshing, drinkable, classic beer is what the Ohio craft beer scene needs right now!

What is your favorite thing in your brewery?

I think our U.S.-made Sprinkman 30 bbl brewhouse is the showpiece of our production brewery… it definitely makes other brewers jealous!

What is your most recent milestone?

Our Sour Program is off and running!  We filled our first red wine barrels a couple weeks ago and they are fermenting away… some of those beers won’t see the light of day for months, and years, but our production Berliner Weisse hit the Columbus market in early June.

What is your next major goal for the brewery?

We will have 6-pack bottles coming out as soon as our labels get approved by the State of Ohio.

Bear vs. Shark who would win and why?

Bear, because bears eat fish!

Drink of choice? (this doesn't have to be one of your beers but it can be)

I drink a LOT of milk!  And Diet soda… Pepsi, Coke, 7Up, Squirt, as long as it’s Diet.
